Michiyo Fujita

Michiyo started as a keyboardist in a female chorus rock band. She was introduced to Yukihiko Haida and started playing the steel guitar. She subsequently studied the steel guitar under Tatsuo Otsuka but stopped after Otsuka passed away.

When Alan Akaka held a live party at a hotel in Shin-Yokohama, hearing the sound of the steel guitar renewed her interest in the steel guitar. She became an apprentice of Yoshiyuki Endo and resumed lessons. When Endo was unable to give lessons due to poor health, she studied under Lion-sensei (Kiyoshi "Lion" Kobayashi). Recently, she has been participating in a circle taught by Kazuhiko Suzuki in her hometown of Yokohama.

Michiyo says, "The steel guitar is a difficult instrument to play, but I love its sound."

She will be accompanied by Yoshiko Yokoyama on ‘ukulele.
